Protest of Freedom Loss - July 5th, 2022 — Apr 3, 2015 9:54:03 PM
Hi Everyone,
First, let me acknowledge the community of people what work with and through WillowTree Virtual Assistants and the support I personally feel as we work together and try to make the world the best version - the one we want to live in.
Secondly, many of you have been following the recent news as the Supreme Court of the United States voted to strike down Roe vs. Wade on June 24th. As people and women-identified individuals, we at WillowTreeVA stand in solidarity with the peaceful protests that have been taking place across the country. As this comes just before the July 4th holiday, and so many people feel their rights being stripped from them by this ruling, a number of strikes are taking place to mark the challenges to freedom in a time when our country proudly celebrates its freedom from control by others.
Not all of us are free or have basic human rights and the hollow promises are not a place where I (and my assistants) wish to contribute our energy. Uterus holders, transmen, minorities and marginalized communities pay the highest price in decisions like the one made by the Supreme Court. We at WTVA choose to stand up in protest with those who want to do better, to seek better, and to be strong as a group of voices buoyed up by the fact that we are not alone in this struggle.
My team and I have decided to join in with the protest strike scheduled next week. It is a small motion, but passionately decided. The Willow Tree Virtual Assistants offices will be closed on Monday, July 4th in somber recognition of the devaluation of human lives and closed on Tuesday, July 5th in solidarity with the strikes taking place around the July 4th holiday.
We will endeavor to work ahead of the strike to ensure that your work is not impacted. Please contact me with any concerns.
I appreciate your understanding and your support during this turbulent time.
Sincerely,
Scarlett Ross
